Cocktails to help transport you to the Maldives
So it is like this … we can’t go to the Maldives right now. Well, people in Australia can’t anyway. And what wouldn’t we do to wing our way over to these jewels in the turquoise blue ocean. We would relax by the pool, snorkel or dive in myriad coral reefs. We would get massages. A lot of massages. We would explore the island on which the resort sits, fringed by palm trees and white sand and that blue water. And we would love the romance of the place. The salt air. Toes in the sand. The culture.
Yeah that.
But until such time as we can do that, here are cocktails that will take you to the Maldives. To be precise, they will take you straight to the Mӧvenpick Resort Kuredhivaru.
These cocktails are on offer at all the bars and restaurants at this beautiful, five-star resort located about 45 minutes north of Male International Airport. It is still the only airport I have been to that you access only by water, whether by boat or seaplane. The Mӧvenpick Resort Kuredhivaru is in Noonu Atoll and has a swag of overwater pool villas, beach pool suites and beach spa pool residences to make you want to teleport yourself there right this instant.
Unless you are friends with Dr Who that isn’t possible. But rather kindly I think, you can have a little bit of the Maldives in your home thanks to Buddhika Perera, the Bar Manager at Mӧvenpick Resort Kuredhivaru. This cocktail wizard (pictured below) has come up with five of his favourite concoctions, and is providing the recipes. My favourite drink is included. But you’ll have to guess which one it is.
