Marilyn Monroe is heading to Albury.

Marilyn is coming to Albury in an Australian coup.
Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon will feature more than 100 paintings, photographs and videos from public and private collections and include work by influential 20th and 21st century artists such as Andy Warhol, Cecil Beaton and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Ranging from fashion photography to Pop Art, the exhibition will follow Marilyn’s rise to stardom to, ultimately, her struggle with her own fame.
Albury’s new art museum MAMA will be the only venue in the Southern Hemisphere to host Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon after successful seasons across the USA and Brazil.
MAMA – Murray Art Museum Albury – secured the rights two years  ago to present an exclusive Australian season of a major international exhibition celebrating the enduring cultural phenomenon of Marilyn Monroe whose extraordinary popular appeal remains undiminished more than half a century after her death at the age of 36.
Ranging from fashion photography to Pop Art, the exhibition will follow Marilyn’s rise to stardom to, ultimately, her struggle with her own fame.
MAMA Director Jacqui Hemsley says today that after two years of negotiations, “We are absolutely thrilled to announce that MAMA’s first major international exhibition will focus of such an icon of popular culture. To this day no-one has been able to hold a candle to Marilyn Monroe for her sheer charisma, glamour, sex appeal and star power. We know the Australian public will fall in love with her all over again.”
Ms Hemsley says   the season at MAMA would be made even more special with a ‘festival of Marilyn’ which will include screenings of her movies, furniture from the period and memorabilia drawn from public and private collections in Australia.
