The Pumphouse
Pumphouse Point Tasmanian Wilderness Retreat on the shores of Lake St Claire in Tasmania, is front and centre on our radar for its clever design marrying history, location and architecture in a striking way. The property has taken the Lake St Claire Pumphouse, built in the 1920s, and revived it, with the five storey building now housing some of the properties 18 hotel rooms, along with the Caretaker’s Cottage on the shore.
Stroll along the 250-metre-long jetty to the beautifully renovated building, and see the original hydro pumps – adding to the eclectic mix of industrial style with lavish interiors.
The property also has a restaurant and lounge, located in the Caretaker’s Cottage.
