World’s first Diamond Safari

If you love diamonds – everything about diamonds – this unforgettable on-day tour might be for you. Frontiers International Travel has introduced a shiny, bucket-list experience to the mineral-rich west coast of South Africa with guests able to stay in luxury, select a rough diamond to be cut, polished, and set into a piece of custom jewellery. The safari has been created by Ellerman House and Benguela Diamonds, and originates in Cape Town.

In the Mother City, in the shade of spectacular Table Mountain, guests board a private charter flight to Port Nolloth on South Africa’s west coast in the morning. Have breakfast a  luxurious villa on the coast and then you have the option of joining the dive masters from Benguela Diamonds to source seabed gravel, if you have the relevant qualifications, or wait for the divers to return with their bounty, which is then sorted using a vibrating pan system so the heavier stones, including garnets and diamonds, are separated from the rest.  You will learn a lot about the grading of diamonds during this time.

Then sit back and enjoy a wonderful lunch of fresh seafood and South African wines prepared by the private villa chef before settling in for an afternoon of gemstone sorting with the friendly experts from the Benguela team.  Once you make your selection and choose a design, you will head back to Cape Town on the private charter. Your custom piece will be completed and certified within three working days, during which you can explore Cape Town’s many delights or head out to Franzchhoek or Stellenbosch for wine tasting and the many activities you can do there, or perhaps do a short safari in Kruger.

During the day guests will also and participate in a Dom Perignon Champagne pairing and culinary program.
