La Prairie Airport Indulgence

La Prairie Sydney Airport

After a flight delay of three hours from Albury, I am rushing through Sydney International Airport at full speed, bags flying with passport and ticket in hand.

But it’s not to catch a plane,  that’s a few hours away.

It’s for a little pampering treat before I step aboard and fly to Dallas – a wearying 17 hour and five minute flight.

But this time I will be well prepared for that long-haul journey and plan to not look as dishevelled as I usually do when I disembark.

International beauty house, La Prairie has opened the first permanent Australian Airport Art of Beauty Lounge and that’s why I’m rushing.

I pass the La Prairie counters and arrive at the chic beauty lounge and it’s so impressive.

A glass of bubbles is poured as I wait in the luxe Swiss-designed suite and gaze at the gem-coloured bottles and tubes of lotions and potions from the Platinum Rare, Pure Gold, Skin Caviar and White Caviar Collections.

I’m having a bespoke pre-flight platinum haute rejuvenation treatment that will plump my skin and act as a barrier against the ravages of air travel and harsh air conditioning.

My lovely beauty therapist Diana examines my skin and decides on the best products – next I am shown into the plush treatment room and snuggle under the covers on the treatment bed that’s oh so comfy.

Gentle music and beautiful aromas swirl around as my treatment begins.

Am I really at a busy airport- I feel I have to keep pinching myself that I have to catch a plane.

For 45 minutes my face is deep cleansed, toned, soothed, massaged, plumped and creamed as I relax in the lap of luxury.  It all feels so good.

The Art of Beauty treatments ensure your skin is hydrated, rejuvenated and fully flight-ready.

They are designed so you will escape the stress of pre-flight travel and be prepared for changes in light, temperature, oxygen and differing time zones.

I don’t want it to end as I think of what lays ahead, tedious hours to be spent high above the clouds.

Why offer pre-flight treatments?

Noelle Goris, Vice President, La Prairie Asia and Travel Retail says it’s a compelling reason to arrive early at the airport and a La Prairie immersion is the perfect way to commence international travel.

The venture is a collaboration with Heinemann Tax & Duty-Free Australia and is proving popular and addictive.

There is also an express beauty service at the counter including an Instant Eye Revive that smoothes, firms and brightens with a signature eye massage.

Relax with a Skin Caviar Hand and Arm Massage or a Complexion Application using La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Complexion creations.

All too soon – it’s over and I come back to reality with a thud – I recall I do have a flight to catch.

I leave feeling rejuvenated and blissed out and free from stress and my skin has never looked better.

I am calm and ready for my flight – then comes the news it’s been delayed by three hours.

Yes, I’m tossing up if I can somehow sneak back to that Art of Beauty Lounge and do it all again.
